Pastor Rick spoke on a series of 12 disciplines for a healthy and successful Christian life based on Richard Foster's popular book. Below are the sermons in full. Click, listen and learn! Also, be sure check out our homepage for more recent sermons!

#1 - The Discipline of Meditation. This is a look at the first of 12 disciplines of the Christian faith. There is a distinctly Christian approach to meditation which is quite different from the eastern, non-Christian forms. Supporting text includes Psalm 19.

#2 - The Discipline of Prayer. This is a look at the most important of disciplines. When we pray, we partner with God in bringing changes to the world. The most important change is within us, when we pray. Supporting text includes Luke 11:1-13.

#3 - The Discipline of Fasting. This seems to be a lost discipline. The Bible sites multiple examples of people who sought the Lord by fasting. This message looks at several Scriptures and how to apply this teaching today. Supporting text includes Matt 6:16-18.

#4 - The Discipline of Study. The discipline of the Christian life which anchors our faith more than any other is study. We are called to be lifetime learners with an unsatisfied appetite to know God's word. Supporting text includes II Tim 2:17.

#5 - The Discipline of Simplicity. We live in a culture that is driven by consumerism and holds to a value system that honors the rich. This discipline is an important and complex topic to apply in our cultural setting. Supporting text includes Matt 6:25-33.

#6 - The Discipline of Solitude. We live fast paced lives filled with activities. One would think that our busyness would make loneliness rare. The truth is we need this discipline to experience the presence of God. Supporting text includes Mark 6:30-37, 45, 46.

#7 - The Discipline of Submission. A dominant American trait is that we don't like conformity. Independent thought is good, while independent living can be a form of rebellion. Supporting text includes I Samuel 15:22,23.

#8 - The Discipline of Service. God calls Christians to be those who serve the hurts and needs of others. Supporting text includes Matt 20:25-28.

#9 - The Discipline of Confession. Our tradition emphasizes the fact that we can go directly to God to confess our sins.  This message also looks at how the community of believers plays a role in the process of confession. Supporting text includes James 5:16.

#10 - The Discipline of Worship. Worship has often been associated primarily with music.  We worship as we sing.  The Bible teaches that worship includes all aspects of our life before God.  We worship as we learn, as we care for others, and as we honor God. Supporting text includes Luke 19:28-40.

#11 - The Discipline of Guidance. In our independent culture, many Christians expect God only to guide them personally. This message looks at guidance in its broad context and then as applied within the church. Supporting text includes Acts 13:1-3 and Acts 15.

#12 - The Discipline of Celebration. In a person's pursuit of the Christian life there is a danger that we can become too serious minded. A balance to the disciplines is that they are to be lived in joy - life is to be celebrated! Supporting text includes John15:11, Neh 8:10 and Psalm 150.
