VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL ON THE WEEK OF AUGUST 22 - 26

As you plan your summer vacations, keep in mind our Vacation Bible School week, August 22 - 26.  We will meet from 9:30 AM until Noon and offer a program for those from age 4 through 6th grade. 
Our VBS week has been well received in recent years with attendance approaching 50 children.  If you can volunteer this week, please speak to one of the pastors.  We have a need for help with teaching, crafts and games.  There are also opportunities for teens to help out and share in this ministry.  Our Vacation Bible School has been a family oriented time with some toddlers also involved when their parent is with them.
We have learnt some lessons by doing VBS over the past 14 summers.  One les

son is that we rarely meet complete strangers who send their children to our VBS program.  People come because a friend or neighbor invites them or recommends the program.  We will do some advertising in local papers, but the members of our church are the most effective avenue for getting the word to children and families who would benefit. 
Another lesson from our years of VBS is that learning takes place when children enjoy what they do.  We plan a full schedule with crafts, games, singing, snacks, and some special events.  The reason for all these enjoyable activities is to create a healthy learning environment.

If you have not recently been to our church web site - www.fortleegospel.org - you may be surprised by what you find.  Jeff Heldman has spent many hours adding features and upgrading our web site. 
Special features you will see include a weekly Pastor's write-up about our coming Sunday service, audio message of recent sermons, and video of "Faith & Reason." 

There are also archived "Gospel News" copies that will eventually include every month of the year.  The most visited part of the site is a response to the Da Vinci Code.  There is a recent church photo which can be seen on the congregation page.

FAITH & REASON TELEVISION PROGRAM

"Faith and Reason" is the name of a program on cable TV featuring Pastor Rick and Pastor Dominick Apollo of First Reformed Church, and hosted by John Pluchino.  The purpose of the program is to address issues of our culture in a way that gives a reasonable response that is faithful to God's Word.  We hope to present the reasonableness of placing your faith in Jesus.
The 30 minute talk show format is aired

on Time Warner Cable at 8:30 PM Mondays on channel 81 or 98.  The program also is aired on Cable Vision in Hudson County on Mondays at 7:30 PM and on Cresskill Cable Vision (21 towns) Tuesdays at 8:00 PM.  We are also on Cable Vision in Jersey City on Sundays at 1:30 PM.  In addition, there are programs available at our web site: www.fortleegospel.org for those of you who have broadband access.
We will be taping 2 programs on July 18th.
